Will the FASTBOX work with a stock ignition box? Does it replace it completely?
The FASTBOX is a stand-alone CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) system and completely replaces the standard ignition box. Comprehensive instructions are included and most installations are quite simple for the average user.
How long will it take to install the FASTBOX and do I need special tools?
No, it is not required to purchase any special tools, only simple tools are needed. The FASTBOX includes a bike specific harness that uses the same connectors as the OEM wiring harness. Cutting off the original harness is not necessary; the FASTBOX harness can easily be installed and uninstalled at the user's discretion. Installation is usually less than one hour for each application and can be done by most people who have basic mechanical knowledge.
If I sell my bike, can I keep the FASTBOX and use it on my new bike?
Not likely, as each FASTBOX unit is designed to work specifically with each bike model and year. It is rare for the same unit to work on a different model year, and virtually impossible that it can be applied to another manufacturer' bike. Extensive research is done on each application to create a fully functional stand-alone ignition system, this generally does not transfer to other bike model applications.
Do I need to use different fuel?
No, it is not required to use a different fuel. The FASTBOX will allow you to tune the bike's ignition mapping to maximum performance regardless of the fuel being used.
Will the FASTBOX work with other aftermarket exhaust systems? What about stock pipes?
While the pre-developed maps are dyno-tuned specifically for the LeoVince X3 exhaust line, the FASTBOX is a fully capable ignition management unit and can be tuned to optimize ignition timing for many types of modifications, including engine work, fuel type, etc. This also includes aftermarket exhaust systems as well as stock exhausts.
What does the 3 position switch do and can I run the FASTBOX without it?
The 3 position map switch allows you to choose real-time between three different performance maps. They are pre-developed by LeoVince for three different power curves and are set-up as follows:
Map 1 = Full power at all RPM's and throttle positions
Map 2 = Same ignition map as stock (same as stock CDI)
Map 3 = "Wet" map, smoothest torque curve/power output for wet conditions, or for end of race conditions and instances when it is desirable to manage rear wheel power.
You can use the FASTBOX without the 3 position handlebar switch, but it will automatically default to Map 1 if the switch is removed.
